Olympic Park: Sydney 2000

Helllo!

Today was a great day! I woke up at the a$$ crack of dawn yet again (sorry mom, potty mouth) for some unknown reason. Since I was up that early I decided to get a good start to my day, do a load or two of laundry before I leave, shower and do some spanish homework. As the clock struck 12 I met Samm downstairs to walk over to the train because we had tickets to a game at Olympic park. Today was not the greatest day for weather though so we had our raincoats packed. Upon arriving to Olympic park after transferring trains and Lidcombe I got so happy! We got our tickets ready and walked in the gates to Spotless stadium for the rugby game we expected to see. After being in awe of the brightly colored chairs and the amount of orange filling the stands we then realized we weren't here to see a rugby game, in fact we were watching an Australian football game. Literally still laughing about how dumb we were for thinking we were coming to a rugby game. Luckily enough neither Samm nor I have seen an AFL game so thats a plus. At first we sat in our designated area but after the first quarter we walked around and got food. We then had to pull out our rain coats because of the on and off showers. While walking around we were able to take a picture with a picture of the team so it looks like we were with them, of course I took one! After walking around and getting food we decided to sit in the not so crappy seats we originally had. Thank god these chairs had some what of a roof that was able to block the rain from us. We didn't really know the rules of the game but eventually we got the jist. The game was crazy since the field was wet, the ball was wet and the boys were getting vicious. Everyone on the field was slipping and sliding. After the game finished, Sydney Giants won WOOHOO. We celebrated with the fans by dancing to one of the team's songs. At the buzzer Samm and I decided to wander around Olympic park even though it was raining cats and dogs. We saw the beginning of the process to set up for the Royal Easter Carnival which will be here over spring break AND William and Kate will be attending...so I guess that means I will be too! We weren't able to go in the ANZ Stadium but outside the stadium there was an art piece of several metal poles that were decorated and had every olympian's name who competed in the 2000 games on a plaque alphabetically listed. Walking through Olympic park we came across the aquatic center, since we were nice the workers let us in for free to walk around and look. Shockingly, I thought the pool would've been ALOT bigger than it actually was and same goes for the diving pool. They changed one of the pools to be a water park type area for kids while the other olympic pool is used for school and club swimming which we got to see today. Going to Olympic Park makes me want to go to the Olympics SO BAD, almost as bad as the Kentucky Derby so... cough cough Mom and Rick :) 2016 Olympics in Rio are my graduating summer (wink wink).  If you think I'm psycho at the racetrack I bet you don't want to see the real competitive side of Em come out at the Olympics, but I do! Since it was pouring rain Samm and I decided to head back home. I know, I know little baby Emmy actually doing stuff and being the clean and mom-like one? yeah. Samm and I seem to have the same problem with the dishes so she shared something her mom suggested to her to me. Her mom told her to take a couple plates, cups and silverware and hide them in a pantry and have those as yours. If I do my own dishes I will always have something to eat off of because of this. So when I got home from Olympic Park I did just that, I put away 3 plates, 3 cups, 3 forks etc in my own cabinet so I will always have clean dishes and won't have to worry about cleaning anyone else's. Since I was in a bad mood I decided to go shopping, not clothes shopping but it was still shopping. This time I decided to go to Cole's for food because I heard it was cheaper. I managed to get so much food (but not everything on my list) for only $35! Now I know why everyone says avoid the grocery store on Sundays at all costs. Yikes it was a mad house in there. I got oranges, celery, jalepenos, pancakes, peanut butter, broccoli and stuff to make pizza. At Woolworth's on the way home from class tomorrow I am going to pick up hummus, pretzels and sprinkle cheese. Tonight I am just going to have a relaxing night because of the great day I had today. I hope to go back to Olympic Park on a better day but I still had an amazing time. I love you all! :-*
